Biology
Egg to adult is around 2 weeks. Queens can produce 200-300 eggs per day for 24 days, Maturity within 2-3 months, and an average life span of 9-12 months
Food
Wasps will eat flies, caterpillars, spiders, ants etc.
They are an important part of the food chain in the insect world.
The common wasp is a colonial insect. Their nests are paper pulp-like. The Common Wasp will nest in loft space, tree cavities and underground. Nests are usually noticed in late spring, peaking in the summer, a nest can contain thousands of wasps.
Description
Black and yellow abdomen, black thorax and head
Adult workers are around 1-3 cm Long
Habitat
Wasps will nest in lofts wall cavities bushes, hollow trees, old rodent burrows etc
