Biology
A female can lay 2000-3,000 eggs in a lifetime, Will lay 200-300 at a time
Eggs will hatch within 4 days depending on the temperature
Food
Will feed on any wet rubbish from bins, as well as decaying meat
The Green bottle fly is actually a blowfly, a member of the family Calliphoridae. Common throughout the UK. Can be found eating fruit, dead animals, and in rubbish areas. The larvae can help determine a time of death in police forensic investigations.

Metallic green/blue colours, also black markings
8-15mm long
Habitat
Green bottle flies can be found around decaying meat, bins, and animal faeces. Will gain entry to your home through open windows and doors.
